Inter-owned Monza midfielder Stefano Sensi feels that he is taking the right course of action to prevent injuries and speed up recovery.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old spoke of changes to his diet and training regimen.

Sensi’s struggles with injury have been an unfortunate feature of the midfielder’s career.

Particularly since making the move from Sassuolo to Inter in the summer of 2019, fitness and injury problems have disrupted Sensi’s momentum.

The player’s quality has never been in doubt, and he has still had a role to play even for the Italian national team.

Sensi has been trying to get his career back on track during loan spells with Sampdoria and Monza, and whilst injuries have still been an intermittent issue for him, he feels that he can put them behind him.

“I’ve radically changed my approach to training,” the midfielder said.

“I’ve changed my diet, I’m more attentive to injury prevention and recovery.”

Sensi explained that “Physiotherapists have helped me but particularly I have to credit Samuele Fenu.”

“He’s also helped me with the mental side of recovery,” he added.

“When you deal with injuries, the fear of getting injured again can start to take over,” Sensi elaborated.

The 27-year-old also spoke about the importance of former Inter coach Antonio Conte to his development, noting that “He allowed me to take the next step in terms of tactics and intensity, and he always believed in me.”
