Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries still looked as though he has a way to go to get back to his best form based on his performance in yesterday’s friendly win over Sassuolo.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the Dutchman still looked as though more time is needed on the training pitch after his exertions at the World Cup.

Dumfries was a regular in the Netherlands’ starting eleven as they reached the quarterfinals in Qatar.

The Dutchman impressed particularly in the Oranje’s round of sixteen win over the US, and ran up and down the wing relentlessly, as he does for the Nerazzurri.

Accordingly, the 26-year-old has had to use the training time back with his club to get his fitness levels back up.

In the view of the Gazzetta, the former PSV wingback’s display against Sassuolo demonstrated that there is still some way to go in this respect.

Raoul Bellanova started ahead of the Dutchman on the right, and the newspaper argue that this was deserved, as the 22-year-old looked more up to the pace of the match.
