Former Napoli coach Luigi De Canio feels that if Inter want to stay in the race for the Serie A title, they will have to show the capacity to keep the pressure on Napoli for the entirety of the rest of the season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInterNews, De Canio emphasized that the Nerazzurri will have to take the title race to Napoli until the very last day of the season.

Inter will have very little margin for error as they chase Napoli over the rest of the season.

Should the Partenopei not slip up and keep their form the way it has been over the first fifteen matches of the season, then they may well not let the Nerazzurri back into the race for the Scudetto at all.

What is clear, in any event, is that the Nerazzurri must punish any slip-ups that do occur from the league leaders, and not let them feel comfortable at the top.

“It will be a very important match for Inter,” De Canio predicted, “I don’t think Luciano Spalletti has to speak much because the importance to Napoli speaks for itself, but it’s an even more important match for Inter.”

He added that “A hypothetical victory doesn’t mean the road is clear for the Scudetto, because there’s still a long way to go.”

“Inter must show that they have the strength and consistency to push Napoli until the very last day,” he added.
