Inter will be hoping to make a dramatic comeback in the Serie A title race in 2023, and in the view of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, there are some reasons for hope.
The newspaper lists four factors that favour the Nerazzurri in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, starting with the long-awaited return oif Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku’s absence for the bulk of the first part of the season can hardly of helped Inter’s cause.
Now, the 29-year-old is fit and hungry to make a contribution.
It’s not just Lukaku who is back from a lengthy injury, but also Marcelo Brozovic.
Whilst the Nerazzurri did cope fine in his absence, the Croat is undoubtedly a key man in midfield for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
The Gazzetta identify the return of Brozovic and the possibility of finally having a full squad fit and firing at Inzaghi’s disposal as a second factor that can give the coach a boost.
The returns of Lukaku and Brozovic, and the overall mentality of the team hungry to prove themselves after narrowly missing out on the Scudetto last campaign is yet another factor the newspaper see as potentially giving the Nerazzurri a lift.
Fourth and finally, the Gazzetta anticipate that the San Siro will have a more intense atmosphere than ever.
Fans have been back at full capacity for some time, and the desire among the Nerazzurri faithful is greater than ever to see the team succeed on the pitch.
Accordingly, in every match Inter play at home, the atmosphere can be expected to push the team along.
