Defender Milan Skriniar is likely to give his response to Inter’s contract extension offer within the next few days.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, that time is now very much of the essence in negotiations with the Slovakian.

If Inter had hoped to have talks with Skriniar and his representatives wrapped up by Christmas or the new year, that time has now come and gone.

However, Di Mario makes clear, this does not mean that the negotiations between the Nerazzurri and the former Sampdoria defender will drag on for much longer.

On the contrary, the transfer market expert believes, time is starting to run out for the negotiations to reach a conclusion.

He reports that it should now only be a matter of days before the 27-year-old gives his response to Inter’s offer.

Di Marzio lays out the situation that “For Milan, Rafa [Leao], for Inter, Milan – the best January signings for the Milan clubs would be the rather tricky contract extensions of these two crucial players for Pioli and Inzaghi respectively.”

“For the Nerazzurri defender, time is starting to run out,” he adds, “and a response is expected in the next few days to their offer of over €6 million net per season.”
