Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is hoping that he can stay in Milan a while and build his legacy with the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to the “I Re di Calcio” program on Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the coach expressed the desire to win more trophies with Inter.

So far Inzaghi has won two trophies with Inter, namely the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia last season.

This is not a bad haul for a coach who took over a club that was seen as having been in turmoil when he was appointed due to external financial factors.

However, the Nerazzurri also narrowly missed out on the Serie A title last time around.

Now, Inzaghi feels that his work at Inter is far from done.

The 46-year-old former Lazio coach is keen to stay for a while and to try and bring more titles to the club.

The coach reflected that “Milan has welcomed me, my wife, and my children in the best way possible, we’ve settled in well and I want to stay and keep this up, trying to bring trophies to this club and always improving myself.”

He continued that “In my first season we did very well, we qualified for the Champions League round of sixteen after ten years that the fans had been waiting, and we gave Liverpool a real match.”

“It was a great season that could have become extraordinary if we’d won the Scudetto.”

Inzaghi added that “Our goal is always to win, it’s nice to play good football but you have to win. We believe in the Scudetto comeback.”

Asked if he believes that the comeback in the title race is still possible, the coach replied “Absolutely, yes.”

“The long break this season is something new for everyone,” he noted.

“Napoli have been doing something extraordinary so far, which has only amplified the slip-ups of the other teams, Inter first of all.”

“Clearly last season the table looked a lot closer, with all the top teams within three points of each other,” Inzaghi added.

Of his relationship with his AC Milan counterpart Stefano Pioli, Inzaghi said that “We had an excellent relationship at Lazio, we often stayed late to talk with each other.”

“He’s a wonderful person, we’ve faced each other many times over the years but there’s always been great mutual respect.”
