Inter have moved contract extension talks with Edin Dzeko’s agent to some time in the middle of January.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will sit down with the Bosnian’s agent Alessandro Lucci not long after the Supercoppa Italiana match against AC Milan.

Inter are keen to extend Dzeko’s contract given that his form has showed no signs of slowing down this season and he remains important to the team.

The former Roma, Manchester City, and Wolfsburg striker will turn 37 later this season, but has already bagged twelve goals and seven assists in all competitions for the campaign.

Currently, Dzeko earns a net of €5 million per season, whilst the gross cost of his wages for the Nerazzurri is around €9 million.

The club will ask Dzeko to accept a reduction to his wages in order to stay on.

This will be the decisive matter to be discussed in talks with Lucci, and the question of whether the parties can come together on wages will determine whether or not the Bosnian’s deal is extend.

According to Tuttosport, however, the will on both sides of the table is to reach an agreement, so much so that the talks have been moved to the middle of January rather than later on.
