Inter look set to offer striker Edin Dzeko a new contract, and in the view of Italian media, are certainly right to do so.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Libero, via FCInter1908, who praise the Nerazzurri for deciding to show their faith in the Bosnian despite his advancing age.

Given that Dzeko is 36 years old, turning 37 later in the season, it would not be too surprising if the former Roma and Manchester City striker found his days at the Nerazzurri numbered.

However, the striker’s performances on the pitch have told a different story.

The 36-year-old has remained a key player leading the Nerazzurri’s line, and has shown little sign of slowing down.

In the view of Libero, Inter are making the right decision in accelerating contract extension negotiations.

Despite Dzeko’s age, the standard of performances that have remained all through the current season would strongly suggest that the club are making the right decision.
