Paris Saint-Germain coach Christoph Galtier feels that it is not at all likely that the Parisians will sign Milan Skriniar or any other defender during the January transfer window.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the coached explained that the priority for PSG is to give youngster El Chadaille Bitshiabu a clear path into the first team, and not to reinforce the defense with a new signing.

Skriniar was one of PSG’s major transfer targets during the summer, and the French champions are reportedly keen to sign him on a free transfer should he not extend his contract with the Nerazzurri before the end of the season.

As far as a possible January move for a fee, however, this is not in PSG’s plans according to Galtier.

Young defender El Chadaille has been impressing with his performances, so much so that the 17-year-old is getting increasing first-team opportunities in the French capital.

As far as Galtier is concerned, PSG will prioritize giving the youngster a chance rather than signing a defender next month.

“We have El Chadaille, and we believe that we have faith that he has enormous potential,” the coach explained.

“We don’t intend to sign a defender in January, as that would block his path to getting playing time.”
