Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram is expected to remain until the end of the season, unless a club of the calibre of Inter make a move for him in January.

The France international is out of contract in the summer and has refused to sign a new deal, leaving him available as a free agent, but German outlet Bild are reporting that Gladbach will not push to cash in on him next month.

Having previously been ready to offload Thuram to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of the campaign, Die Fohlen have calculated that the forward’s excellent form could be worth more to them over the remainder of the season than a transfer fee and his wages off their books.

Gladbach are in the running for European qualification and see Thuram as a crucial component in their plans to achieve that after the winter break in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, the player himself has little desire to push through a move, unless one of Inter, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, or Paris Saint-Germain make a serious offer in January.

Thuram is ready to reject any mid-season approach from Newcastle United or Aston Villa, and see out his contract at Gladbach.

The 25-year-old has ambitions of ending the season as the Bundesliga top scorer after netting 10 goals so far, and by leaving as a free agent in the summer he would be able to demand a better financial package at his next club.
