Inter midfielders Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcelo Brozovic did not train alongside the rest of the squad yesterday as they nurse minor injuries.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, Mkhitaryan underwent a personalised training session after complaining of a lower back issue sustained during Thursday’s 1-0 friendly win over Sassuolo.

The former Roma midfielder was withdrawn early in the second half due to the strain and was replaced by Roberto Gagliardini, as he seeks to avoid aggravating the injury before Inter’s Serie A match against Napoli on Wednesday.

Brozovic, meanwhile, suffered a left flexor injury in Croatia’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina earlier this month and also underwent a personalised session upon his return to Inter.

However, the Nerazzurri were boosted by the arrival of striker Lautaro Martinez to the Appiano Gentile training centre, with the Argentine World Cup winner back in group training following his triumph in Qatar and subsequent holiday.
