Legendary former Inter midfielder Giempiero Marini feels that at the moment, the Nerazzurri cannot hope to keep up with Napoli.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Marte, via FCInterNews, the former midfielder gave the view that the Partenopei are currently the single strongest team in European football ahead of their match against his former team.

Inter will try and rein in Napoli from their perch atop the Serie A table when they meet the league leaders at the San Siro next week.

Luciano Spalletti’s form over the first part of the season suggests that this will be far from an easy task, to put it mildly.

For Marini’s part, he feels that this will be borne out on the pitch when the Nerazzurri host Napoli.

The former Nerazzurri midfielder is far from optimistic that his old team will have what it takes to peg back the league leaders.

“Napoli, in my opinion, are the best team in Europe at the moment,” he said of Napoli.

“I think it will be a very demanding match for the Nerazzurri because there’s only one result that will be good enough for them.”

“Napoli are clearly stronger than them right now,” he added.

Marini also noted that “The five losses that Inzaghi’s team have already suffered are frankly a lot, but I still see a lot of potential in them on a technical and athletic level.”
