Inter are anxiously waiting for a response from centre-back Milan Skriniar as he considers their latest contract proposal.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Slovakia international has not given the club an answer yet, and the Nerazzurri are unsure whether he will decide to leave on a free transfer when his existing deal expires this summer.
Directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio indicated that they would be willing to increase their offer to Skriniar at their most recent meeting, and it is believed that the player appreciated this, but no agreement has been reached yet.
It is expected that a final decision will be made in the middle of January, with further talks scheduled for then, and Inter will act accordingly once they know Skriniar’s intentions.
Although Paris Saint-Germain have shown an interest in the former Sampdoria defender, they are ready to wait until June to sign him on a free transfer should he reject Inter’s proposal, rather than buy him this month.
Inter are not expected to sell the 27-year-old mid-season, but want to begin planning for next season as soon as possible and target replacements if necessary.
