Inter are waiting for goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to decide what he wants to do at the end of the season before offering a new contract, whilst they will also focus on defender Francesco Acerbi.

According to Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, club captain Handanovic is yet to make a decision on whether he wishes to remain at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after falling behind Andre Onana in the pecking order.

The Slovenian is out of contract at the end of the season and could bring his 12-year stint with Inter to a close in the summer.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are keen to keep hold of centre-back Acerbi after his loan move from Lazio, but may need to renegotiate the terms of the deal to retain him, despite the player’s determination to stay.

Inter are able to buy the 34-year-old outright for €4 million, but are reluctant to meet that figure and will try to persuade the Biancoceleste to lower their asking price.

The Nerazzurri are also weighing up offering new deals to defender Danilo D’Ambrosio and midfielder Roberto Gagliardini as they approach the final six months of their respective contracts, although the former is more likely to receive a new deal.

Attention will then turn to tying down players who are due to be out of contract in 2024 to avoid a situation similar to that which has seen Milan Skriniar reach the end of his deal this year.

Indeed, Inter are ready to begin talks over the coming months with Alessandro Bastoni, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Hakan Calhanoglu to avoid losing them for free in 18 months.
