Inter have turned down an approach from Lyon to take wingback Raoul Bellanova on loan until the end of the season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Ligue 1 club had hoped to persuade Inter to part with the 22-year-old in the January transfer window after his limited appearances since joining from Cagliari in the summer.

Bellanova was signed on an initial loan by Inter with a view to making the deal permanent at the end of the campaign if they wish, and Lyon had proposed taking the wingback on until June without any option to sign him outright.

However, Inter are as yet undecided on whether to activate the buyout clause in his loan arrangement, but are optimistic that Bellanova can step up his level of performances in the second half of the season and are reluctant to part with him.

Bellanova has experience of Ligue 1 already, after beginning his senior career with Bordeaux before joining Cagliari on loan in 2021, and making the switch permanent in May 2022.

He was then moved on to Inter later in the summer of 2022 and has featured 11 times for the Nerazzurri in all competitions.
