Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he wants to spend the remainder of his career at the club, before seeing it out with one final season at Anderlecht.

The Belgium international returned to Inter on loan from Chelsea last summer, after leaving for the Premier League outfit in 2021 in a €115 million transfer.

In a wide-ranging interview broadcast today by Italian television channel Sky Sport Italia, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Lukaku revealed his ambitions for the remainder of his career, including a return to boyhood club Anderlecht.

“Yes, of course I’d like to spend my career here, although I would like to play my last season at Anderlecht,” the 29-year-old revealed.

“I feel good at Inter, the club has this ambition to continue winning and growing. My son has now started playing with the Inter Academy, so we want to stay here for the family too. At the end of the season we will talk about it and hopefully find a solution.”

Lukaku also had a message for Nerazzurri supporters, as he prepares to make his comeback following a series of injuries in the first half of the season.

“I hope the next six months are great, you have been wonderful to me and I hope you are having a good holiday,” the former Everton player said.

Finally, Lukaku infamously had a spat with former Manchester United striker and current AC Milan man Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a Derby della Madonnina in 2021, but he insisted that he did not hold a grudge and wished the Swede well in his comeback from a serious knee injury.

“I’m not someone who wants to see great players out for a long time, there is always respect for what they have done in their careers.

“He has done great things, people want to see two great players playing against each other. I hope he comes back as soon as possible, then we’ll see on the pitch what happens,” Lukaku added.

The 29-year-old also touched on his relationship with Jay-Z, and revealed that the iconic hip-hop star had congratulated him after Inter won the Serie A title in 2021.

“He was the first person who called me after winning the Scudetto, we had a good time together in New York, he also pushed a lot for me to come back here. He likes football a lot, he follows Inter, he’s a great person.

“My mother and my son, and obviously the members of ROC Nation are the most important people in difficult times,” he continued.

The Belgian has made five appearances for Inter this season in all competitions, scoring two goals, whilst he netted 62 goals in 95 games in his first spell, from 2019 until 2021.
