Inter are set to schedule discussions with the agent of striker Edin Dzeko for later this month in order to extend his contract at the club.

According to Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the Nerazzurri are keen to keep the Bosnia and Herzegovina international beyond the end of the season, with his existing deal set to expire in June.

Dzeko, meanwhile, is equally determined to stay at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for another year and is ready to commit his future to the club.

With attention focused on upcoming Serie A matches and the Supercoppa Italiana against AC Milan on 18 January, Inter will arrange for negotiations to open up with Dzeko after the final.

The 36-year-old joined the Nerazzurri from Roma in 2021 and has scored 26 goals in 70 appearances for the club.

Elsewhere, Inter have reached an agreement to extend the contract of wingback Matteo Darmian for a further two years, whilst they have begun negotiating an extension for centre-back Stefan De Vrij, although wages are currently a stumbling block.
