Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries has emerged as a target for Spanish club Barcelona and they may seek to persuade him via international teammate Frenkie De Jong.

As reported in yesterday’s newspaper edition of Catalan outlet El Nacional, the Blaugrana are in the market for a more attacking option at right-back, with Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto deemed too defensive.

With Hector Bellerin failing to impress and unlikely to remain beyond the end of his loan, Barcelona have turned their attention to Dumfries and have joined the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuing him.

It is reported that sporting director Mateu Alemany has requested further information about Dumfries and sought a reference from his Netherlands teammate and current Barcelona midfielder De Jong.

This has even gone as far as to request that De Jong attempt to convince Dumfries to opt for a move to the Camp Nou, as coach Xavi seeks an addition on the right flank.
