Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is the favourite to start in midfield against Napoli on Wednesday, ahead of Marcelo Brozovic.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who reported this afternoon that the Croat’s fitness means that he will likely be left out of the starting eleven, and that Calhanoglu will be the player to sit at the base of the Nerazzurri’s midfield.
Brozovic has been working in training to try and reach full fitness in time for Inter’s Serie A clash with league leaders the Partenopei this week.
However, it is anticipated that the 30-year-old has not quite gotten to the point where he is ready to start the match yet.
Accordingly, Sky reports, the likeliest candidate to start at the base of midfield in the regista position would be Calhanoglu.
Playing on either side of the Turk should be Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, forming the trio that had been first-choice prior to the World Cup break.
