Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi will be looking to get the positioning of Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni right to stop Napoli’s threats both centrally and on the flanks on Wednesday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who notes that some of the coach’s most important work in preparation for the match concerns coordinating the back three to get the right coverage.

Francesco Acerbi will certainly have his hands full with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, and so Skriniar and Bastoni on either side of him will have to come and help out at times to keep the Nigerian quiet.

However, Inzaghi will be wary of seeing his defensive trio become too narrow.

The coach is looking to have the right balance of protecting the penalty area and defending Partenopei wingers Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Matteo Politano.

Obviously the midfielders and wingbacks will also be expected to do a significant amount of tracking back in order to assist the backline in dealing with Napoli, who are currently the highest-scoring team in Serie A with 37 goals.

However, the Gazzetta suggests, the biggest task will be getting the balance right with Skriniar and Bastoni, between providing additional cover centrally with Acerbi and not giving Napoli’s wide players space.
