Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is set to rely on similar defensive tactics against Napoli as he employed to good effect against Barcelona in the Champions League.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the coach will rely on a marking scheme to pay special attention to Partenopei’s danger man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Against Barcelona, Inter’s backline were always going to be in for a tough test.

However, the defenders were not without help.

The wide midfielders and wingbacks had carefully coordinated roles to keep the wide centre-backs from getting put into one-on-one situations, effectively starving the Blaugranas of the opportunity to exploit mismatches to arrive in the penalty area.

Milan Skriniar will be a key player, and his assignment will be to try and stop Napoli winger Kvaratskhelia.

It will not just be the Slovakian at work on this task, however.

The Corriere note that Inzaghi will have wingback Denzel Dumfries and midfielder Nicolo Barella on duty helping him mark the Georgian international.
