Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries is a doubt to start in this evening’s Serie A clash with Napoli, and Matteo Darmian would be ready to take his place.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Dutchman is not yet at his best condition fitness-wise.
Dumfries started all five of the Dutch national team’s matches at the World Cup, including a gruelling extra-time tie against Argentina.
Accordingly, whilst the former PSV man has been working hard in training to recover his best physical form, he is not quite there on the day of Inter’s Serie A clash with the league leaders.
Should Inzaghi decide that Dumfries is not quite in condition to start against the Partenopei, Darmian would be ready to step in for him.
Given the important of the right-wingback position in dealing with Napoli danger man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, it is hardly likely Raoul Bellanova would start.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is all but certain to start, with Edin Dzeko the favourite to start alongside him.
