Former Lazio striker Paolo Di Canio feels that Inter’s superiority to Napoli in yesterday evening’s Serie A win was not even fully reflected by the scoreline.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the former striker suggested that the Nerazzurri could have won by three clear goals rather than the narrower 1-0 scoreline.

Inter needed to wait until the second half of yesterday’s match to find the back of the net through Edin Dzeko, and once they did they had to spend the rest of the match protecting their advantage.

However, in truth the Nerazzurri could have opened the scoring earlier considering some of the clear-cut chances that they had missed during the first half of the match.

Moreover, Simone Inzaghi’s team hardly sat on their lead in the second half after scoring, and looked just as likely as the Partenopei to score the next goal that never came.

“In terms of chances, it was hardly a match,” Di Canio said, “it could have ended 3-0.”

“Inter were happy to let their opponents have a lot of the ball, but when they attacked they were the team who looked a lot sharper,” he continued.

“To me, it looked like Napoli were struggling for a lot of the match.”
