Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is proud of his players after their 1-0 win over Napoli in Serie A.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach praised the squad for their performance to take three points off of the league leaders.
Inter came up against one of their toughest tests of the season by far in the form of Napoli, who had gone the first fifteen matches of the Serie A campaign without tasting defeat.
Therefore, it was especially impressive that Inzaghi’s team managed to get the result that they were looking for on their return to Serie A action after almost two months away.
The Nerazzurri looked physically, technically, and tactically sharp on both sides of the ball, and for his part Inzaghi felt that it was a demonstration of why the group of players he has at his disposal is a special one.
“It was a high-tempo match played with quality and determination,” the coach said.
“The guys were splendid,” he continued, “I’m proud to be able to coach them.”
Inzaghi noted that “To win against such strong opponents, this is how you have to play.”
“Now we’ll be back on the pitch in two and a half days, but this win gives us great confidence.”
“Playing in this stadium in front of our fans gives us a lot of energy,” he noted.
“In the league we initially lost too many matches, as did the other teams around us, so Napoli managed to build up a big advantage by playing brilliantly.”
