Inter defender Francesco Acerbi is confident that the team can go on a winning run if they continue to play the way that they did against Napoli in their 1-0 Serie A win yesterday.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old expressed confidence for the rest of the season after the Nerazzurri got their biggest result of the season yet in Serie A.

Inter’s match against league leaders Napoli was do-or-die, and from the way that the team performed on the pitch, the players knew it.

Backed into a corner of needing three points to prove that they were still in contention for the Scudetto, Acerbi and his teammates showed their best on both sides of the ball to hand the Partneopei their first league defeat of the season.

Inter’s best is what they will need over the rest of the campaign if they’re to keep up their winning ways, with matches coming thick and fast as part of the packed fixture list.

“If we had lost tonight the Scudetto race was over for us, but we were calm, and convinced we have a great match,” Acerbi said after the clash with Napoli.

“There’s very little between winning, losing, and drawing, but we demonstrated today that if we keep playing like this, we can put together a winning run.”
