Inter’s Serie A win over Napoli yesterday evening was more emphatic than the 1-0 margin of victory would suggest.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the Nerazzurri looked totally superior all over the pitch and would have deserved to win by a bigger scoreline.

Inter won’t be too bothered by the fact that they only handed Napoli their first league defeat of the season with a single goal, if it meant three points and blowing the title race wide open.

However, the scoreline does give the impression that it was a tight contest.

For the Corriere, this was not borne out on the pitch.

The newspaper argues that Inter were quite simply the superior team on both sides of the ball.

The Nerazzurri could have been 2- or 3-0 up in the first half had their finishing looked sharper, whilst Napoli only tested Andre Onana very late on in the match.

This was the result of a run of play in which Inter controlled the tempo and looked the better side.
