SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla believes that Napoli gave Inter the match that the Nerazzurri wanted after the opener in Wednesday’s Serie A clash.
Speaking live on air, the transfer market journalist gave his thoughts following Wednesday’s match, which he felt was handled well tactically by Inter.
Inter absorbed a lot of Napoli pressure on Wednesday evening, allowing the Partenopei to have the lion’s share of the ball.
However, the league leaders were not able to do all that much with the possession that they had, in terms of creating chances.
In the view of Pedulla, this was the case just as much after Inter scored, when Napoli were trying to chase an equalizer.
Inter were able to sit back and get into their defensive shape, and this appeared to be a gameplan that they had prepared for extensively as they were able to stymie the league leaders quite effectively.
“They defended well, cut off any service to the attacking players from Napoli, and prevented any real chances,” Pedulla said.
“There were hardly any chances even after Inter’s opener, the only real one was Raspadori’s effort.”
“Napoli were not really able to react to the opener,” Pedulla argued, “they played right into Inter’s hands.”
