Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano was positively surprised by the performance by the Nerazzurri to beat Napoli yesterday evening in Serie A.

Speaking in a video on his Instagram account, via FCInterNews, the former forward praised the Nerazzurri’s display in the 1-0 match, although he also gave the view that the title is still in Napoli’s hand.

Inter faced a tough ask in the form of Napoli, a team who had been unbeaten in Serie A over the entire first part of the season.

However, the Nerazzurri played almost exactly the match that they needed to in order to hand the league leaders their first genuine setback of the campaign.

For his part, Cassano didn’t see the match that he expected to.

The former forward felt that Inter were better than he would have anticipated to outplay the Partenopei, although he does not necessarily think that the title favourites have changed after just one match.

“Inter surprised me positively, ” he said, “they played a great match and deserved the win.”

“Napoli created little if anything, just Raspadori’s shot at the end,” he continued, “the Nerazzurri countered with quality and physicality.”

“Now the Serie A title race is opening back up, although I still think that everything depends on the Azzurri.”
