Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is yet to settle on his pairing in attack for this evening’s Serie A match against Monza, as Edin Dzeko competes with Lautaro Martinez.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the former Lazio coach has decided on Romelu Lukaku to lead the line and the Belgian will definitely be involved from the start, as he seeks to build up his match fitness and find his goalscoring form.
However, it is not yet clear who will join him up front from the start, with Dzeko a contender after netting the only goal in the win over league leaders Napoli on Wednesday.
The former Roma striker suffered cramp after that match but has recovered and Inzaghi may look to him for continuity.
Alternatively, Martinez will be afforded a starting spot so that he can also play his way into form and reforge the partnership with Lukaku that fired Inter to the Scudetto in 2021.
Elsewhere, centre-back Stefan De Vrij is expected to come in for Francesco Acerbi, whilst Denzel Dumfries will replace Matteo Darmian at right wingback.
