Despite appearing set for the exit this month, Inter wingback Robin Gosens is now expected to remain at the club and fight for his place in the first team.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Germany international is becoming increasingly likely to still be at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza when the transfer window closes at the end of January.

Gosens had failed to establish himself at Inter since joining from Atalanta last January, but the left wingback has impressed coach Simone Inzaghi during the World Cup break and forced his way back into the fold.

Whilst Inter had been exploring incoming options on the left before the mid-season break in November, they seem set to retain Gosens and he will compete with Federico Dimarco for a starting spot in the team.

Gosens has made 28 appearances for Inter in all competitions since initially arriving on loan last year, scoring three goals.
