Inter coach Simone Inzaghi admitted that he was disappointed to see his side slip to a 2-2 draw against Monza in Serie A, but urged them to bounce back.

The Nerazzurri twice led in the Serie A encounter at the U-Power Stadium, through goals from Matteo Darmian and Lautaro Martinez, but had to settle for a point after conceding an equaliser in stoppage time.

In an interview with the club’s inhouse television channel, Inter TV, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Inzaghi revealed that he was unhappy with the decision to disallow a Francesco Acerbi goal, and that there was a great level of frustration amongst the players and staff at the draw.

“Everyone is very disappointed, the technical staff, the club, and the players. We knew the importance of this match, tonight we had a goal disallowed which probably would have brought us a victory. This still happens after five years of VAR,” Inzaghi bemoaned.

“We had to make some adjustments today due to some physical problems, we were coming from a very expensive game, but if I think about Lautaro’s effort against the post and the disallowed goal, the game was over.”

After beating Napoli on Wednesday and securing victory over Atalanta in Serie A before the World Cup break in November, Inter were unable to seal another victory, but must now turn their attention to a Coppa Italia clash against Parma on Tuesday.

“Tonight we lick our many wounds. A win tonight would have kept us going in a good moment after the victories against Atalanta and Napoli, but instead we got a draw. We have to put that behind us and look to the next challenge,” the former Lazio coach concluded.

The draw leaves Inter seven points behind Serie A leaders Napoli, ahead of the Partenopei’s match against Sampdoria later today.
