Inter wingback Matteo Darmian proved why he deserves a new contract after impressing during the 2-2 draw against Monza in Serie A yesterday.

As reported by L’Interista.it, the former Manchester United defender was regarded as one of the Nerazzurri’s best players at the U-Power Stadium by Italian media, after he scored the opening goal with a smart finish at the back post in the first half.

Darmian is out of contract at the end of the season but is expected to sign a new deal, with an agreement thought to be close to being announced.

Indeed, La Gazzetta dello Sport awarded him a 7 in their player ratings and argued that his performance was worthy of a new contract, whilst Tuttosport also gave him the same score and claimed that he has shown the finishing touch of a striker to score his goal.

Tuttomercatoweb, Corriere dello Sport, and L’Interista themselves all gave Darmian a 6.5, with the 2020 signing from Parma impressing at right wingback.
