Inter are set to miss out on the signature of young Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, who is close to joining Premier League club Southampton.

This according to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, via FCInterNews, who report that the 19-year-old is currently on his way to England where he will join Saints for a fee of around €15 million.

Alcaraz has been one of Inter’s targets to reinforce in midfield for when Roberto Gagliardini leaves on an anticipated free transfer.

The likes of Portuguese giants Benfica and Porto as well as Southampton’s Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with the young Argentine midfielder.

However, it looks to be Southampton who have win the race for Alcaraz’s signature ahead of the Nerazzurri and other clubs keen on signing the 19-year-old.

TyC Sports report that everything has been agreed on a €15 million deal between Saints and Racing Club, and that the deal should soon be made official.
