Inter wingback Matteo Darmian feels that the Nerazzurri suffered a bad refereeing error in their 2-2 Serie A draw against Monza, but that they cannot afford to dwell on it.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the 33-year-old stressed that the team must focus on the future instead of what’s already in the past, and also noted that they are keen to bounce back with a good display against Parma in the Coppa Italia this week.

Inter were on the end of a poor decision by Sacchi in Saturday’s match against Monza, which took away what looked to be a third goal and potentially two points from Darmian and his teammates.

The Nerazzurri have made no attempt to hide their frustration, and for his part Darmian is also upset about the refereeing error.

However, the former Manchester United and Torino wingback is ultimately focused on the future, particularly the team’s next match against one of his former sides Parma.

“We wanted to take home three points in order to add consistency after our win against Napoli, and unfortunately we didn’t succeed, but we’re only looking ahead,” Darmian said.

He continued that “We have an important match in an important competition on the way.”

“We won it last year and we want to do well again this year,” Darmian said.

“The incident with Sacchi’s decision had a big effect on the result, but we have to look ahead and we can’t dwell on it, there’s not going back.”
