Inter captain Samir Handanovic has suffered a muscle injury to his left leg.

This is confirmed by the club in an official announcement, where they note that tests confirm the presence of an injury after the 38-year-old had experienced some muscular discomfort and that he will undergo further examinations in the coming days.

Handanovic has not played for Inter since he was displaced from the Nerazzurrri’s starting eleven by summer arrival Andre Onana.

The Nerazzurri captain has remained an important figure behind the scenes and in training, however, whilst he has been considered to be a reliable backup to the now first-choice Onana.

However, it looks as though Handanovic will be out for some time as he recovers from the problem sustained in his left leg.

This would presumably leave third-choice keeper Alex Cordaz as the designated backup to Onana in goal until Handanovic recovers.

The timeline for when the Slovenian can return will be revealed in further tests.
