Chelsea are now the team in pole position to sign Inter-linked Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram.

This according to UK tabloid the Daily Mail, who claim that the Blues have emerged as the team leading the race for the 25-year-old’s signature.

Inter’s interest in signing Thuram has been longstanding, but the Nerazzurri are far from the only team to have identified the Frenchman as a target.

A number of teams from around the Premier League have also shown an interest once it has been made clear that Thuram could be available on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have become increasingly keen on signing the former Guingamp striker, and have now made him a major target.

The Blues have been spending freely since last summer, their first transfer window under owner Todd Boehly, and do not look set to stop as they are close to bringing in Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues are now pushing to sign Thuram as well.
