The fitness of all of midfielders Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhabnoglu, Marcelo Brozovic, striker Romelu Lukaku, and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic all hang in the balance for Inter’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona this weekend.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are not exactly sure what their strategy will be with the injured players, both for Saturday’s match and in view of the Supercoppa Italia against AC Milan.
Both Barella and Calhanoglu are expected to be very close to being fit for Saturday’s match against the Gialloblu, and Simone Inzaghi would very much hope to start at least one of the pair.
The coach will probably only know if this is feasible very close to the match itself, however.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi would be hoping that Marcelo Brozovic is able to start on the bench and get some playing time in as a substitute in the second half ahead of Wednesday’s Supercoppa Italiana clash with the Rossoneri.
Lastly, the coach does not yet know whether captain Handanovic can return to the bench, and will have to wait and see regarding Lukaku, who is trying to return as soon as possible.
