Inter duo Joaquin Correa and Robin Gosens are among the two biggest money arrivals at the Nerazzurri in recent season, and neither look to have lived up to their price tags yet.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the performance of Inter’s second string players against Parma on Tuesday demonstrated that the club have virtually wasted €80 million in the transfer market.
Forward Correa’s performance against Parma on Tuesday was widely regarded as one of the worst on the pitch.
Meanwhile, wingback Gosens didn’t look a great deal better, as the German has still never shown the kind of form he did at Atalanta whilst wearing a Nerazzurri shirt.
The combined fees for the two add up to around €60 million, and given their cash-strapped circumstances the Nerazzurri will hardly be pleased at the fact that for this amount they evidently cannot even get two good performances against Serie B opposition whilst the starting players rest.
Meanwhile, the fees for youngsters Kristjan Asllani and, potentially, Raoul Bellanova are an additional expenditure of over €20 million.
In these cases, of course, it would not be fair to say that the money has been wasted just yet, given that it is still not clear whether either of the duo will live up to their promise.
For now, however, neither look at all close to breaking into the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven, and so for the Gazzetta, the club have managed to spend a pretty significant amount of money in the transfer market, even with their financial restrictions, and not strengthened their team in doing so.
