Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini is a target for Lazio on a free transfer when his Nerazzurri contract expires at the end of June.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Biancocelesti are keen to bring in the former Atalanta midfielder in a similar deal to the one which saw them sign Matias Vecino last summer.

It is now clear that Gagliardini will not be an Inter player in a few months’ time.

There seems to be little chance of the 28-year-old departing in January before his current contract runs out, but there is even less of a chance that his deal will be extended past the end of the current campaign.

Lazio are looking for midfield reinforcements for Maurizio Sarri for the summer transfer window.

Gagliardini would not be seen as a first-choice midfielder to replace a player like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if the Serb leaves, and the likes of Hellas Verona’s Ivan Illic and Red Bull Salzburg’s Luka Sucic are among the Biancocelesti’s targets in this regards.

However, there is real interest in bringing Gagliardini to the Italian capital as an experienced campaigner to add depth in the central midfield areas.
