Inter defender Milan Skriniar may well be delaying giving his final response to his club’s contract extension offer until after the Supercoppa Italiana in order to avoid upsetting the atmosphere around the team.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who claim that if the 27-year-old is going to decline the club’s offer, he may wish to leave this until after the team play for their first piece of silverware.

One way or another, Skriniar’s contract situation has become a cloud that hangs over the Nerazzurri.

Whilst the professionalism of the 27-year-old, his teammates, and the coaching staff should mean that it does not affect the team unduly on the pitch, he could still aim to handle it delicately.

Tuttosport suggest that the former Sampdoria defender could be thinking that the tension of uncertainty could be less damaging to morale than decisively rejecting the club’s offer so that everyone knows he plans to leave on a free transfer during the summer.
