After a hard-fought match in the Coppa Italia, Inter Milan host Hellas Verona in the Serie A hoping to wipe away the memory of the Monza draw. Match tomorrow Saturday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with kick-off scheduled for 20:45 CET.

An already depleted Inter had to go 120 minutes against Parma in the Coppa Italia midweek, and now must face Verona in a must-win match should the Nerazzurri want to revive any hopes of a title challenge.

The numbers seem to be in the hosts’ favour; Inter are the league’s second highest scoring side in the league while Verona have the joint leakiest defence having conceded a remarkable thirty goals already.

With Romelu Lukaku out injured, it is up to Edin Dzeko once again to partner Lautaro Martinez up front. That said, Simone Inzaghi’s biggest headache will be in reshuffling the midfield core.

Both Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella are still unfit, meaning that Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Kristjan Asllani will both probably feature instead.

Inzaghi must show that whatever lack of mental preparation displayed against Monza was nothing but a blip and that his side can confidently take care of business.

Newly appointed Verona manager Marco Zafferoni will have a tough task ahead of him in his third match in charge.

Team News

Marcelo Brozovic, Romelu Lukaku and Samir Handanovic are all still out injured. While Nicolo Barella is fit enough to make the squad, don’t expect the midfield dynamo to make an appearance just yet.

Probable Line-up (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar (C), Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Calhanoglu, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro, Dzeko.

Stats

Last Season: Inter 2 – 0 Verona.

Last 10 Head to Head: Inter are unbeaten in the last ten matches against Verona, having won seven matches and drawn three.

In fact, Inter are currently unbeaten in twenty two matches against Verona, and you’ll have to go prior to 1997 to find a Verona win against the Nerazzurri.

Keep An Eye On

Lautaro Martinez: The Argentine striker has seemingly but his poor World Cup form behind him, and found his scoring boots once again.

Having scored a sensational goal midweek against Parma, expect El Toro to find the back of the net against the leaky Veronese defence.

Prediction & Concluding Remarks

Prediction & scorers: Inter 3 – 0 Verona. Skriniar, Lautaro and Dimarco to score.

Concluding remarks: Inter want to fully put the draw against Monza behind them and with the league’s best home record, expect a confident, business-like display.
