Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti is very happy with the fact that the club have Lautaro Martinez in their ranks.
Speaking to Italian news outlet Calcio.com, via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri Vice-President noted that it had not always looked obvious that the Argentine striker would sign for Racing Club, but that ever since he has, he has endeared himself and made himself an important player for the Nerazzurri.
Martinez joined Inter from Racing Club in the summer of 2018.
The Argentine had been considered to be one of the most exciting talents within South American football at that time, and the Nerazzurri were the team to win the race for his signature.
Now 25 years old, Martinez has made good on the potential that he had shown in his early career, and become an important player for the Nerazzurri.
For his part, Inter Vice-President Zanetti is very pleased with the player that Martinez has become, and with the fact that it has been at Inter.
“I’ve seen that Lautaro has a great future ever since we started following him,” Zanetti said.
“I spoke to Milito a while ago,” he continued, “when Lautaro was starting to take his first steps at Racing.”
“After that he made his debut in the first team, but you could see right away that he was on course to become so much more.”
“I’m very happy that Lautaro is here at Inter, all he’s demonstrating what we all believed he could become,” Zanetti said.
The Nerazzurri Vice-President said of Martinez that “He’s growing season on season.”
“We’re talking about a very young man, who’s now become a reference point for both Inter and Argentina.”
Of Martinez’s best characteristics, Zanetti said that “He’s generous on the pitch, works hard on the pitch, helps in the defensive phase, good timing to his headers, scores a lot of goals, good dribbling.”
“He’s always been a very responsible, very professional young man,” he continued of Martinez, “ever since he arrived at Inter he’s understood what it means to play for a big club, and he proves it weekend after weekend.”
“I think he’s happy here with us, and he is doing very well on the pitch.”
Zanetti noted that “Lautaro immediately accepted our offer, it seemed like he might go to another club but then he came here.”
