Inter striker Edin Dzeko has come in for criticism after failing to make an impact in the 1-0 win over Hellas Verona in Serie A yesterday.

As reported by L’Interista.it, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international underwhelmed at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after starting the match against the Gialloblu, and was withdrawn midway through the second half for Joaquin Correa.

Amongst the major Italian media outlets, La Gazzetta dello Sport gave Dzeko the lowest player rating as they judged his performance to only be worthy of a 5.

They argued that the striker did not look himself, but was saving his energy for Wednesday’s Supercoppa Italiana match against AC Milan in Saudi Arabia.

Dzeko received a 5.5 from fellow newspapers Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport, whilst L’Interista were joined by Tuttomercatoweb in giving the former Manchester City striker the same rating.

The 2021 arrival from Roma struggled to link up effectively with partner Lautaro Martinez and was unable to make his mark on the game.
