Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was the best player on the pitch during yesterday’s 1-0 win over Hellas Verona in Serie A, according to Italian media.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentina international shone in the narrow victory at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with his goal after just three minutes settling the match.

The newspaper awarded him a 7 in their player ratings after he netted his ninth league goal of the season to move Inter level with third-place Juventus, and just a point behind AC Milan in second.

Midfielders Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu also impressed and were awarded a 6.5 each, with the same rating going to defender Milan Skriniar.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Andre Onana, defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Francesco Acerbi, and midfielders Kristjan Asllani, Nicolo Barella, and Federico Dimarco were all given a 6.

The most disappointing performances came from forwards Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa at 5, and they scored slightly worse than the 5.5 issued to Matteo Darmian, Robin Gosens, and Roberto Gagliardini.
