Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi will have the opportunity to hit a milestone that few Italian coaches have reached by winning his fourth Supercoppa Italiana trophy on Wednesday evening.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the 46-year-old would equal a record held by legendary former coaches Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello if he is to mastermind a win over AC Milan.
Inzaghi has earned a reputation as something of a cup competition specialist between his time with Lazio and with the Nerazzurri.
The coach won the Coppa Italiana with the Biancocelesti during the 2018-19 season, and then last campaign did so with Inter to cap off his first season as coach.
Moreover, Inzaghi has already won the Supercoppa on three occasions, twice with Lazio (in 2017 and in 2019) and then last time around with Inter.
If the 46-year-old can make it two seasons on the bounce with the Nerazzurri in this competition, then he will join the ranks of Lippi and Capllo as the coaches to have enjoyed the most success in the competition.
