Inter would have two main reasons to be open to a swap deal between Marcelo Brozovic and Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who suggest that the potential financial benefits of a deal and the presence of readymade successors to Brozovic Kristjan Asllani and Hakan Calhanoglu could persuade the Nerazzurri on the swap.

Brozovic’s importance to Inter’s team has always been clearly noted, but this season the 30-year-old has been out for long periods through injury and the team has coped fine in his absence.

A lot of this has owed to the fine form of Calhanoglu in the role, with the 28-year-old shining in a regista position that is virtually new to him.

Meanwhile, Asllani has been showing signs that he could be ready to be a stylistically apt long-term replacement for Brozovic.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri could be more willing to allow the Croat to leave than they would have been even a few months ago when it seemed as though he would be without a suitable replacement.

Moreover, the financial benefit of bringing in a player of Kessie’s value in exchange for Brozovic would allow the Nerazzurri to realize a capital gain, no small matter given the club’s financial situation.
