The talks between Inter and Barcelona regarding a possible swap deal for midfielders Marcelo Brozovic and Franck Kessie are complicated, but could pick up steam after the Supercoppa Italian tomorrow.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the clubs are giving real consideration to a possible player exchange, and that talks could restart on Thursday.

Getting a deal worked out for Brozovic and Kessie to be exchanged would hardly be a simple matter.

Particularly if an exchange were to be agreed before the end of the January transfer window, a lot of factors would have to be worked out between the two clubs as well as the players and their representatives.

However, the Nerazzurri would not be resistant to the idea, according to Tuttosport.

Kessie would be seen as a high-quality option to replace Roberto Gagliardini in the long-term, as a box-to-box player who can back up Nicolo Barella in the squad.

Meanwhile, the emergence of Hakan Calhanoglu as a capable deep-lying playmaker, as well as the presence of Kristjan Asllani, means that Inter would be more willing than ever to consider allowing Brozovic, who is now thirty and has dealt with some injuries in the past two seasons, to leave.
