Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that there is little that his team could have done better in their 3-0 triumph over AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the match, via FCInterNews, the coach gave his reaction to his team’s performance to secure the Supercoppa trophy for the second season in a row.

Inter will have known that the derby against Milan is never an easy match, but over ninety minutes the result rarely looked to be in doubt as they outplayed the Rossoneri physically, technically, and tactically.

Two first half goals from the likes of Federico Dimarco and Edin Dzeko put Inzaghi’s team in the driver’s seat going into halftime, whilst the team saw out the match well in the second half, capped off by a third from Lautaro Martinez.

The coach could only praise how his players had performed on the pitch in his comments after the match.

“We were totally clear-headed,” he said, “we played the perfect match.”

“Now we’ve achieved our second goal for the season, after reaching the round of sixteen in the Champions League,” he added.

“It’s a pleasure to watch this team play,” Inzaghi said of his Nerazzurri side on the form they showed against Milan.

Asked if he feels that this victory can be a platform around which to build a successful second half of the season, Inzaghi replied “Absolutely, yes, but for now we just want to celebrate this win.”
