Legendary former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o believes that his move from Barcelona to join the Nerazzurri was one of the best transfers in the history of football.

Speaking to BeIn Sports, via FCInter1908, the Cameroonian looked back on the swap deal which saw him move from the Blaugranas to Inter, whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic went the other way.

When Eto’o made the switch from Barcelona to Inter in the summer of 2009, the Cameroonian was seen by many as something of a makeweight for the La Liga giants to sign Ibrahimovic, then considered to be one of the best players in the world.

If this was the expectation around Eto’o, then the reality certainly exceeded expectations.

In his first season at the Nerazzurri, Eto’o played a big role in the team winning the European Treble, knocking out his former team Barcelona on the way to the final of the Champions League.

The former striker looked back of former Inter President Massimo Moratti that “He gave me an opportunity for which I will always be grateful, the chance to become a part of football history.”

“He allowed Inter to make one of the best deals in their history,” he continued.

“The swap deal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic was one of the best in the history of football.”

Eto’o noted that “When I arrived at Inter, I said to my father figure Massimo Moratti, ‘Give me two years and I’ll give you the Champions League.'”
