Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that there was hardly a contest between the Nerazzurri and city rivals AC Milan in this evening’s Supercoppa Italiana victory.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old stressed the view that the Nerazzurri had comprehensively outplayed the Rossoneri in order to win the Supercoppa for the second season running.
On paper, Inter will have had every reason to expect this evening to be one of their toughest matches of the season, as the derby is always a special match and Milan’s quality can hardly be called into question.
However, Dimarco and his teammates put three past their city rivals without reply, and this was hardly an exaggeration of the run of play.
The wingback is very pleased with the trophy, and particularly so to have gotten one over on one of their biggest rivals on the way to winning it.
“It’s a win we’ve wanted ever since we left Milan,” Dimarco said after the match, “and we’re glad to have won it, and done so absolutely hands down.”
Asked whether he considers his opener to be the best goal of his career, Dimarco replied “Indeed, it’s certainly one of the most important.”
“I don’t think that there are words to describe these feelings,” he added.
“It was a really beautiful evening, scoring my first ever goal in the derby in a Supercoppa.. it’s incredible.”
“We knew it was a final, a unique match, and we went out onto the pitch with the right mindset and the will to win, and we did it,” Dimarco concluded.
